Ontario Chapter of The Gospel Coalition

Day rates are now available for the Ontario Chapter of The Gospel Coalition.  The conference is from May 29-31, 2012, at Heritage College and Seminary in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.  The rate on Tuesday the 29th and Thursday the 31st is $60 and the rate on Wednesday the 30th is $120. Wednesday’s rate includes lunch, all workshops and the special feature with David Short.   Registration is closed as of  May 21st but there are a limited number of spots available at the day rate so register early.

The theme of the conference is “The Priority of the Gospel”. Plenary speakers Don Carson, John Neufeld and Stephen UM will address this topic using Philippians 1-4. As a special feature, David Short will speak on “Striving for the Faith of the Gospel: The St. John’s Vancouver Anglican Church Story”.  We are also thrilled to be able to offer a variety of excellent workshops.   We believe this conference will strengthen, encourage and challenge pastors and Christian leaders in their gospel-centered ministries.

While the conference is aimed at pastors, leaders and students of pastoral ministry, all are welcome to attend.  Check out this link http://thegospelcoalition.org/conferences/regional/2012_ontario to learn more about the conference, plenary sessions and workshops and to register.

Using the Psalms in Spiritual Warfare

The following verses reveal complaints of the Psalmist regarding the attacks of his enemies, giving us insight into how Satan works against believers, churches, and church movements. Believers are to speak out our complaint to God. Speaking out our complaint unmasks the “schemes” (lit “thoughts”) of Satan – “we would not be outwitted by Satan for we are not ignorant of his designs” (2 Cor 2:11).

At our last prayer meeting, half the church faced the other half of the church. One half spoke the complaint on behalf of the church. The other half answered back with the faith affirmations. Corporate sword welding in the battle!

Marriage – a picture of Christ and the Church

I received the video below from Desiring God Ministries and I thought it would be helpful for the church. Some of us are married, some are not. Some have been married and some never will. Yet, we are all in a marriage relationship, if we are believers, so this video applies to everyone in the church. If you take nothing else away from this video, be reminded of the love for which Christ has for you and the sacrifice he made for you. If you are married, I hope this reconfirms the love you have for your spouse and gives hope for any circumstance you may be in. There is joy to be found in Christ, regardless of the circumstance; Christ is all you need.
